A 143-foot (43.5-meter) catamaran is unusual enough. One with upwards of 6,460 square feet (600 square meters) of windows is even more unusual. Add in hardly a symmetrical space anywhere on deck, and the result is the yacht This Is It. She’s the largest power catamaran available to charter, and certainly unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
The owner who commissioned her was clear in that directive, in fact. He didn’t want a traditional-looking multihull, outside or inside. The Tecnomar shipyard’s in-house team gave the yacht This Is It gently curving lines, inspired by both supercars and sea creatures. The compound curves of the aluminum superstructure, by the way, weren’t simple to execute. Neither was incorporating the above-mentioned glass. Tecnomar’s naval architects needed to pay stricter attention to weight control and stability, along with performance. Since she’s a power cat, the yacht This Is It needed to have a good turn of speed and range. She reportedly can top out around 20 knots and cover 3,500 nautical miles at her most efficient cruising speed.
The interior experience is just as important as the outside appearance and performance, of course. The owner of This Is It wanted natural light to stream in at practically every angle. That therefore explains not only floor-to-ceiling windows, but also multiple skylights. It additionally explains some extraordinary ceiling heights, like the 11 feet (3.3 meters) in the master suite. Speaking of which, the owner or primary charterers have a pretty epic private space, with a terrace-like area and a two-deck vertical garden.
From lounges to dining areas, the yacht This Is It has a remarkable asymmetry. No squared-off spaces like nearly every other yacht, they are instead sculpted and sculptural. The leathers and woods (oak and teak) on walls are dramatically geometric, too. Yet, nothing is so bold as to detract from the views. Instead, subdued tones of creams keep the mood serene, even with pops of bronze, titanium, carbon fiber, and more.
While on charter, guests will delight to having a massage room and abundant multi-use deck areas. Perhaps most enjoyable of all, the galley inside is a show kitchen, where the chef will please your eyes before your tastebuds.
This Is It has a weekly charter rate starting at €350,000, via the central agency of IYC. Cruising grounds include Greece and the Middle East for the next several months. Should you instead want to build something as forward-thinking in design, the Tecnomar Power Cat 133 yacht project is available.
