These happy faces are those of the owners, crew, and craftspeople of Scorpion, the eighth 46 Steel launched by Sanlorenzo. Scorpion received the traditional bath of bubbly, plus a blessing from a Russian Orthodox priest, this weekend.
The owners will be able to take a bit of Russia along with them on their voyages, too. The interior decor of Scorpion is highlighted by mosaics from Moscow. They’re complemented by other eye-catching details, like a large crystal sculpture rising through the stairway atrium. It changes from shades of blue to green throughout the decks. The five-deck Scorpion is colorful outside, too. The owners requested a special lighting system to set different moods through different tones.
Other noteworthy features aboard Scorpion include opening ports in the master suite, two toy garages (one aft, one fore), and Art Deco interior accents. Dark contrasts with light by mixing rich mahogany with pale Abice artico wood, while brass and mother of pearl are also employed.
The Sanlorenzo 46 Steel series is intended for long-range cruising. To that end, the yard says that Scorpion should see a best range just exceeding 3,500 nautical miles.
While the yard prepares Scorpion for delivery, it’s also finishing work on its first two expedition megayachts. They’re part of the 460 EXP series, one of which will debut at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. Hulls one and two of the 52 Steel series are also in build. They’ll be ready next year.
