While the Overmarine Group recently celebrated the debut of the “baby” of the Mangusta GranSport range, its larger megayacht models continue to capture customers’ attention. One of the more popular series, the Mangusta Oceano 44, saw the launch of hull number seven this spring.
For perspective, the Mangusta Oceano 44 series inaugurated five years ago. With longtime design partner Alberto Mancini, the shipyard wanted to offer customers an even more open, sunlit-filled experience on the water. One of the most effective features to this point, for example, is the full-height glass on the upper deck. It opens on three sides, effectively turning the skylounge into a true indoor-outdoor relaxation and entertainment area. Overall, 1,055 square feet (98 square meters) of tailorable space welcomes the owners, family members, and friends.
The owners of this Mangusta christened the yacht Lulus during a ceremony on May 25. It came two and a half years after they signed the contract, in fact. They had taken their time prior to that in deciding what they would want aboard this 146-footer (44-meter). It’s due to spending multiple years chartering a variety of motoryachts, making mental checklists along the way.
Some of the standard features of the series appealed to them. For instance, the accommodations for 10 people, including the master stateroom on the main deck, suited their cruising plans. In keeping with the idea of flooding the interior with light, the suite has a large skylight. Additionally, the owners liked how glass bulkheads characterize the main and upper decks. It preserves the views, helping to erase the feeling of being isolated from the surroundings. It’s especially beneficial in the formal dining area on the main deck, which, like the skylounge, has opening, full-height glass walls.
Yet another appealing area is the infinity pool on the foredeck. Mangusta calls it “the island,” since two sunpads are surrounded by the pool water. A teak walkway leads to and between them. Note as well that a second infinity pool is up on the sundeck, itself an impressive 1,120 square feet (104 square meters).
Finally, as you would expect, the Mangusta Oceano 44 has a three-sided beach club. For many megayacht clients, this is the heart of social life onboard. Perhaps it will be for these owners, too, and charter customers, who will have the opportunity to book Lulus when delivery occurs in a few weeks.
