It’s not everyday that the men and women who build the world’s most luxurious yachts get invited aboard by the owners who commission them. But that’s exactly what happened on April 19, when Benetti launched Latinou at its Livorno, Italy, facility. Specifically, 200 craftspeople and their families were welcomed up on the decks of this 170’6″ charter yacht by her French owners; not only that, but the couple toasted them with a rare champagne bottled purposely for the event.
While it was certainly an extraordinary move on the part of the owners (other future owners, are you taking notes?), they wouldn’t have had it any other way. They’re delighted with how 240 tons of aluminum and steel, nearly 262,470 feet of cables, 13,100 feet of piping, as well as 11,811 feet of cherrywood paneling and marble and crystal slabs came together.
While Latinou’s profile, designed by Stefano Natucci, is similar to other same-size Benettis, it does incorporate a balcony off the owner’s suite, fully forward on the main deck. As for her interior, it’s distinctly Art Deco, echoing many elements of the 1930’s. But there are also surprising elements, such as a skylight in the main saloon and an elevator that lets light enter all five decks as it passes through them. There’s also a massage room, accommodations for 12, and of course watertoys.
Latinou will be available for 231,000 euros this summer as part of the Fraser Yachts fleet.
