The launch of a megayacht is the culmination of a carefully choreographed series of movements that can take hours, if not more than a day. Such was the case with the launch of Chopi Chopi at CRN, which, as we reported earlier this week, took place last weekend. The 262-footer (80-meter), which required a reported 660,000 man hours to get to this stage, was slowly rolled out of her build shed and positioned on the slipway in December over the course of two days.
Thankfully, those two days are condensed into just a few minutes in this video. In watching the efforts, keep these facts in mind:
- full load displacement is approximately 1,700 tons
- gross tonnage is 2,365
- 80 people per day on average were involved in her construction
- her six decks meant she was too tall inside her build shed for her navigation mast to be attached, so it gets put on once she’s outside.
