First-time Heesen Yachts clients have celebrated the christening of their yacht Pa’lante. The name, a term common in Latin America to express the notions of going for it and forward momentum, sums up their view on life on the water.
New clients for the shipyard, the owners acquired the 180-footer (55-meter) about two months ago. Heesen had begun construction on spec, as it typically does, as Project Frida, the latest 55M Steel series yacht. It’s the same series that resulted in the delivery of the yacht Project Agnetha, which sold to a customer from Dubai last fall.
Given the advanced stage of construction for the yacht Pa’lante, the interior décor was largely in place. Heesen Yachts and Luca Dini Design & Architecture strove for a contemporary look with classically nautical elements. In fact, rich woods and light-toned furnishings paired to create a striking distinction. The owners largely liked the ambience. Still, though, they had some personal requests, which Silvia Margutti from the design studio and Heesen’s interiors division welcomed. Some of their favorite contemporary art pieces are aboard now, in areas specifically highlighting them.
Since several Heesen 55M Steel megayachts have preceded Pa’lante, the shipyard was confident heading into sea trials. The tests confirmed a top speed just exceeding 15 knots, for instance, and a cruising speed of 13 knots. The best range of 4,500 nautical miles comes at 12 knots, plenty for exploring the Mediterranean this summer.
The christening ceremony took place at the famed Hotel New York in Rotterdam. It suited a superyacht whose philosophy focuses on the future. Dating to 1901, the building was the headquarters for Holland-America Line, whose ships carried nearly 1 million European emigrants to the United States.
Following her maiden voyage, the yacht Pa’lante will premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show this fall.
