Meet the Jongert 3200P, the first of a new series called the Performance Line.
The Jongert 3200P is the mysterious new sailing yacht that the Dutch builder teased in late December. Just as we supposed, the Jongert 3200P and the overall Performance Line evolved from the Jongert Modern Line. Jongert began restructuring its sailing superyacht models in 2011. Back then, it created what it termed the P Line from the Modern Line. The P Line has been renamed the Performance Line.
The Jongert 3200P is for megayacht owners who enjoy spirited performance both in regattas and on world cruises. The all-aluminum, RINA-classed yacht bears naval architecture by Doug Peterson, renowned for a number of production and custom sailing yachts. Due to a lifting keel, draft ranges from 13’1” to 19’7” (4 to 6 meters, respectively). Hull speed is estimated at 12.6 knots. As you’d expect of a racer-cruiser, the Jongert 3200P has a well-planned sail area. The mainsail measures 3,143 square feet (292 square meters), while the jib is 2,691 square feet (250 square feet). The rest of the sail plan: 1,173-square-foot (109-square-meter) staysail, 4,984-square-foot (463-square-meter) Code Zero, and 7,868-square-foot (731-square-meter) gennaker.
Styling and interior design for the Jongert 3200P are from Rhoades Young Design. Note the large expanses of glass. It benefits the inside helm and adjacent upper saloon. It also benefits the full-beam (25’8”, or 7.87-meter) master suite, fully aft. Since the bed faces the full-height glass, it’s a light, bright, inviting space. It also has private access to the cockpit and fold-out beach deck.
The Jongert 3200P can be customized, of course. Rhoades Young Design and Jongert are offering a number of decor treatments and finishes. Rather than having an internal helm, twin alfresco steering stations are possible. That frees up more social space inside—and appreciation of the liberal use of glass. Choose between two and three guest staterooms below. (Opting for a third cabin might take some space from the lower saloon and dining area. But, how much time do you really spend below decks when you’re sailing?)
The Jongert 3200P will eventually be joined by smaller and larger versions. LOAs will be 28 meters (91’8”), 36 meters (118’1”), and 40 meters (131’2”). Given the usual Jongert nomenclature, the model names will likely be Jongert 2800P, Jongert 3600P, and Jongert 4000P.
