Hull number one of the Princess 35M has broken the mold—sort of. The gray-tone hull is complete, having recently been released from its mold. The brief video here shows you how the UK-based staff transferred the hull from the mold to the fit-out floor. There, she’ll be joined with the superstructure, which is still in build. Prior to that, the Princess 35M hull is to gain the engine package, twin 2,637-hp MTUs. That should ultimately permit a top end around 27 knots. The hull is also being fitted with stabilizers and other systems.
The Princess 35M joins the 32M and 40M in the M Class series, which is semi-custom. She’s a 243-gross-ton megayacht meant for eight to 10 in the owner’s party. Bearing a raised-pilothouse configuration, the megayacht is also meant to be run by a six-person crew.
The first Princess 35M bears a good deal of customization at the request of the owner. For example, the yacht will have alfresco dining for 12 on the flying bridge, plus a bar. Seating areas are reconfigured as well, to make room for the bar and enlarged dining area. We still don’t know whether the owner will have three or four guest staterooms below decks. However, this first Princess 35M definitely has a main-deck, full-beam owner’s suite. Beam is 23’11” (7.3 meters).
Other features distinguishing the Princess 35M include floor-to-ceiling windows flanking the saloon. Princess Yachts can switch out some of these windows for sliding doors. They will in turn complement fold-down balconies. More alfresco enjoyment comes toward the foredeck, on a good-size sunpad.
Expect to see the first Princess 35M debut at the fall boat shows in the UK and/or Europe. The stateside debut for the series will likely come later in 2015, and likely with a yacht made for the American market.
