Over the weekend, hull number one of the MCY 105 series was feted with great fanfare at an event in Venice, Italy. The MCY 105 is the largest semi-custom yacht offered by Monte Carlo Yachts.
As the model name indicates, the MCY 105 measures 105 feet (32 meters), bearing a beam of 23 feet (7.12 meters). She’s unmistakably a Monte Carlo Yachts fleet member, due to the signature hull port styling. The overall look, outside and inside, is from Nuvolari-Lenard.
The MCY 105 allows Monte Carlo Yachts clients, and others, to grow up into larger megayacht territory. Prior to this model’s creation, the builder’s largest offering was its 86. She’s also a semi-custom model, further easing owners into bigger-boat territory. Inside, the suggested layout includes a main-deck master and four guest staterooms below decks. Even the galley, part of the aft crew’s quarters, goes below decks. The idea is to allow the rest of the MCY 105’s main deck to be devoted to socialization and relaxation.
Of course, being a flying-bridge model, the MCY 105 has plenty of room up top to sun, dine, and lounge. Another good spot for all of this awaits on the Portuguese bridge. Your captain won’t be confined to the interior when it comes to pointing out your next destination on the horizon to you, either. It’s because the MCY 105 has an extra helm station on the flying bridge, complementing the raised pilothouse.
Just as the amenities of the MCY 105 make her noteworthy, so, too, does her construction. Monte Carlo Yachts primarily uses carbon composite, including Kevlar, with some aluminum. The builder says this reduces weight by 15 percent compared to comparably sized megayachts. That weight savings should translate to good speeds: an anticipated 27- to 28-knot top end with MTU power. Monte Carlo Yachts expects cruise speed to be 23 to 24 knots.
Hull number one should be in her owners’ hands in a few weeks. Hull number two is also sold, so number three onward is available. If you’re interested, here’s a look at the MCY 105 series:
