Today is opening day of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, now in is 56th year, and still nicknamed FLIBS. It’s the second significant show of the year for the superyacht set (though unlike the Monaco show, it also showcases boats of every size and shape). With the American economy improving more than that of other countries, an increasing number of yacht builders and manufacturers are vying for yachting consumers’ attention stateside. Expectations in some circles are therefore high for FLIBS.
