Some megayacht owners build or convert craft to serve as shadow boats. But thus far, these shadow boats have been megayachts of their own merit. The YXT 20 from the Yacht X Tender (“yacht extender”) division of Lynx Yachts is meant as an alternative. A more broadly appealing, and more broadly useful, alternative.
Measuring 65’6” (20 meters), the YXT 20 is being built on spec. It’s due to the first YXT model from 2014 having gotten good attention. That was a 79-footer (24-meter), the YXT 24 named YXT One. Furthermore, Lynx Yachts’ president, Slim Bouricha, believes shadow boats are anything but a trend. He conceived Yacht X Tender to offer aluminum craft in varying sizes to 118 feet (36 meters). Though, Bouricha concedes that upper size may grow, too. Regardless, Lynx Yachts’ facilities in The Netherlands build all of the YXT models.
The YXT 20 will be ready for delivery this summer, for €1.95 million (about $2.14 million at press time). She’ll have accommodations for four crewmembers, for better division of duties between your primary yacht and this boat. They’ll have their own galley, of course, along with abundant stowage spaces to arrange as you so need. For example, you can add a pilot berth, or configure an area for wine stowage or even extra refrigeration. The hold provides a total of 269 square feet (25 square meters) of stowage.
Fulfilling her “shadow” role, the YXT 20 has 484 square feet (44 square meters) of deck space for the toys you want to tote. Two cranes will take care of loading and offloading craft to 1.7 tons. One of the cranes can double as a passarelle, too. Beam on deck measures 18 feet (5.5 meters).
Guests will be welcome aboard the YXT 20, too. Yacht X Tender has been collaborating with Franck Darnet Design to create warmly paneled receiving areas.
The YXT 20 should see a 900-nautical-mile range with twin 715-hp Cummins.
