Not even polar ice can keep Taboo from her travels. The 295-foot (90-meter) concept created by Gill Schmid Design is for cruising in hot and cold climates equally. In addition, she carries a plethora of planes, personal subs, and more to make accessing all these areas have to offer easier.
In conjunction with Tim Dempers Studio, Gill Schmid Design wants to attract true adventurers at heart. Taboo, compliant with the Passenger Yacht Code governing vessels with large guest parties, accommodates 26 guests and 40 crewmembers. That means you’ll have plenty of company when launching a hot-air balloon from the deck. (It’s been done aboard megayachts before.) Alternately, Taboo can carry a helicopter, which stows on a retractable helipad. You can take along an amphibious car, too. Taboo can stow a variety of different options, along with traditional tenders up to 46 feet (14 meters) LOA.
Relaxation spaces inside, from the full-deck owner’s suite to lounges, have abundant glass for panoramic views. One-way glass in some areas lets you and your guests enjoy the vistas without anyone outside being able to see you, for extra privacy.
For extra fun, Taboo has a glass pool (above), flanked by aquariums, too. (Talk about swimming with the fishes, in a good way.) The pool passes through two decks, with the water’s surface on the upper deck. It turns the typical main-deck saloon into a beach club instead.
You can turn a few areas aboard the megayacht into different configurations. What Gill Schmid Design calls “an aft summer house” can instead be extra VIP suites. It can also be one more lounge, or (imagine this) a casino.
Be sure to keep the cocktail lounge, though, along with the well-equipped gym and spa. You’ll need some time to relax after a hard day’s play on the water.
