She remains under wraps in terms of her name, her anticipated delivery date, and even details about her accommodations and interior design, too. However, the Oceanco 109-meter (nearly 358-footer) that arrived at the company’s Alblasserdam shipyard a few days ago is newsworthy for much more than her secrecy.
In fact, this same project christened Oceanco’s newest construction facility last year. About six miles (10 kilometers) away from Oceanco’s headquarters in Alblasserdam, that yard previously housed construction for offshore oil platforms. Oceanco acquired it for both new construction and refit work. This new Oceanco 109-meter did not begin her build there, instead seeing steel hull construction start at a longtime subcontractor. Regardless, the hull transferred late last year. Therefore, the megayacht still can lay claim to being the first new build to complete her first stage of construction at the site.
The only facts publicly available at this time are scant. The Oceanco 109-meter features both styling as well as interior design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. In keeping with owners and guests wishing to experience the passing scenery all the more, the megayacht has what Oceanco terms “an astonishing amount of glass.” Specifically, glass wraps around the main deck, the bridge deck, and the upper deck. Finally, naval architecture is from Lateral Naval Architects. The studio joined forces with Oceanco’s internal engineering department for the “technologically advanced propulsion system,” according to the shipyard. However, no further details are being released, at least for now.
