Many shipyards enjoy good repeat business, with Codecasa being among them. In fact, the owner of Framura, the most recent launch at its yard in Viareggio, Italy, is more than just a repeat customer. This is his third yacht over the past decade with the team.
Filmed in July, this video takes you behind the scenes of the private christening and launch ceremony. Even with social distancing and other pandemic-mitigating procedures in place, though, the enthusiasm did not wane.
Measuring 180 feet (55 meters), Framura is the largest of the owner’s Codecasa projects. For instance, in 2013, he took delivery of a 164-footer (50-meter). And, three years before that, he took delivery of a 149-footer (45.5-meter).
Do not let the small increments in meters fool you, however. The new Framura has a healthy volume of 720 tons, dramatically more than the tonnage of the prior yacht—and, of course, of the ones before that.
Although Codecasa still is not revealing much about the megayacht, it does say that the somewhat modest profile meets the owner’s desire for a classic look. Inside, meanwhile, the shipyard’s interiors department and the owner’s designer (who remains unknown) is equally unassuming.
Framura, a.k.a. Hull C123, is still at the yard, approaching her delivery date. Once she starts taking the owner and his family out, they can enjoy a reported 12-knot cruising speed. That same speed should permit a 5,000-nautical-mile range, enough to venture far and wide. The owner’s party has four decks from which to spy those shores, plus an elevator making quick work of traveling among those decks.
