The Bering Yachts team had cause for celebration in recent weeks, turning the Bering 145 hull at its Turkish shipyard. The milestone for this 145-foot (44.2-meter) megayacht was additionally significant, since she’s slightly ahead of her original pace.
Bering Yachts only announced the project this summer. As the new flagship of its fleet, the megayacht keeps a focus on steel and aluminum construction. Additionally, she keeps a focus on travels to far-off destinations. In fact, this particular project should see a best range of 8,000 nautical miles at a 10-knot cruising speed.
Speaking of the cruising speed, Bering 145 hull number one will include diesel-electric propulsion. Specifically, the in-house engineers and naval architects chose a Danfoss Editron system. In conventional all-diesel mode, the yacht should achieve more than 4,500 nautical miles while traveling at the same above-mentioned speed. Still in conventional mode, she should top out at 15 knots. While in hybrid mode, meanwhile, she should see more than 12,000 nautical miles at a slightly slower 9 knots. About 25,255 gallons (95,600 liters) of fuel make it all possible, too.
If you are not familiar with Danfoss Editron, it specializes in hybrid and electric powertrain systems for off-highway and marine markets. “We chose to work with Danfoss Editron because of the company’s sophisticated technology, which is compact, lightweight, and highly efficient,” explains Alexey Mikhailov, Bering Yachts’ president. “It was essential for our customer that the company we selected to provide the yacht’s hybrid system had worldwide recognition and proven reliability.”
The owners of Bering 145 hull number one “are very involved” in the entire project, Mikhailov adds, “and are counting down the days to her launch now.” Bearing a beam of 31’8” (9.7 meters), their megayacht has six staterooms total for them and their guests. Other highlights of the layout include a skylounge with a wall of wine, plus a big beach club. A 12-person captain and crew team will oversee operations of the 495-gross-ton yacht, too.
While Bering Yachts originally planned delivery for early 2022, it now says she’ll be ready by the end of next year.
