Bering Yachts will soon start construction on its eighth current new build. It has sold the second hull of the Bering 145 series, for delivery in about two years’ time.
The hull turning for the first Bering 145 occurred late last year. Her contract closed just six months before the one for this 145-footer (44.2-meter), in fact.
The trideck Bering 145 series, which sees build in Turkey, targets cruisers who want to globetrot even to far northern regions. With a full-displacement steel hull and aluminum superstructure, hull number two has conventional diesel propulsion. Her reported best range will be upwards of 4,000 nautical miles, at a cruising speed around 10 knots. Maximum speed should be 15 knots, meanwhile. (For comparison, hull number one has diesel-electric propulsion.)
Since the Bering 145 series has a volume of 499 gross tons, expect the owner’s and guest spaces to look and feel comfortable. The 31’8” (9.7-meter) beam and overall configuration of the upper aft deck, for instance, is roomy enough for a few tenders and toys to stow aft. Those tenders, by the way, will be pretty big, too, up to about 28 feet (8.5 meters) LOA. As you might expect, big tenders support big plans. Specifically, the owner is a passionate diver, looking forward to multiple excursions. Therefore, he’s also requested a well-equipped dive center. It sits between the engine room and beach club, with its own fold-down hatch and a decompression chamber.
With five staterooms for guests below decks, hull two in the Bering 145 series situates the master suite on the main deck. However, it is still unusual in layout. It contains a private bar and small lounge in addition to the sleeping space, along with a fold-down balcony. Interestingly, the owner has yet another master just aft of the wheelhouse.
Yet another special request: additional sound and vibration reduction, both at anchor and at sea.
