The sixth yacht in Heesen’s 55M Steel series is already in build on spec. Interestingly, she is apparently the only 180-footer (55-meter) available in The Netherlands at this point. Equally important, the yacht, nicknamed Project Gemini, represents a first-time collaboration with Luca Dini Design & Architecture.
The megayacht follows in the footsteps of Heesen 55M Steel projects like Solemates (a.k.a. Project Castor) and Project Pollux. Therefore, the general arrangement calls for accommodations for 12, a full-beam sky lounge, a beach club with a wellness area (above), and toy stowage on the foredeck. Additionally, Project Gemini, coming in at a voluminous 760 gross tons, should see a 4,500-nautical-mile range at 13 knots with MTU power.
Luca Dini’s design studio often plays with light, so expect that with Project Gemini, too. Filtered sun coming in through the full-height windows in the saloon, for example, will create a soothing interplay with Tay wood, leather walls and doors, as well as stone surfaces. Stone will lay underfoot at the entry from the aft deck, in fact. Further in the saloon, bronzed-mirror panels overhead will reflect light and should result in make the room feel larger.
The owners’ party of 12 can take formal dinners just forward, as is tradition, or head up top to the sundeck for less-formal affairs. Being semi-custom and a spec project, Project Gemini is entirely personable, of course. Most cruisers do like these indoor and outdoor options, though, as well as yet another option to enjoy the same aft on the bridge deck. Picture the party having cocktails outside, too, either on the main aft deck or at the bar on the sundeck.
After a day of play on the watertoys and exploring local shores in good company, the owners of Project Gemini and their guests have six staterooms for sweet dreams. Eight hundred ninety-three square feet (83 square meters) of space awaits the owners in their main-deck, full-beam suite. Dini and his team plan for elegant drama in the en suite bath. It’s thanks to a freestanding black tub that commands attention. The two twin and two double staterooms for friends and family below decks have equally beautifully outfitted baths.
Heesen plans to join Project Gemini’s hull and superstructure this coming March. Delivery will be in 2022.
