Yacht launches always mark milestones, but the launch of Oceanco Y720 was a significant one for the shipyard. The 357’6″ (109-meter) megayacht is officially the first to complete construction between Oceanco’s two facilities in Zwijndrecht and Alblasserdam, The Netherlands.
In fact, she essentially christened the Zwijndrecht shipyard in 2019. About six miles (10 kilometers) away from Oceanco’s headquarters in Alblasserdam, that yard already existed. It previously housed construction activities for another company’s massive offshore oil platforms. When those activities ceased, Oceanco identified it as ideal for both new construction and refit work.
Unfortunately, the launch of Oceanco Y720 doesn’t come with new details on her most prominent exterior or interior features. We therefore still only know that styling as well as interior design are from Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. Glass figures prominently onboard, especially on the main deck, the bridge deck, and the upper deck. Guests will enjoy panoramic views on each of those decks, in fact, since the windows wrap around them. The 52-foot (16-meter) beam should look and feel extra voluminous as a result. Lateral Naval Architects, meanwhile, is responsible for her engineering platform and what will of course be transatlantic capabilities.
Additionally, the owner, whose identity remains confidential, was an active participant in the entire design period. He appointed Beverly Hills-based Molly Isaksen Interiors as a design consultant, too. Interestingly, the owner took interest in some of the technical systems as well. The launch of Oceanco Y720 and subsequent sea trials will put them, said to exceed existing regulatory requirements, to the test. The shipyard anticipates the megayacht seeing a top speed of 20 knots, impressive for her LOA.
