Frequent Caribbean and Bahamian cruisers are enjoying the salt life aboard hull number one in the Horizon E90 series. In fact, Lazy Daze took her maiden voyage to the Bahamas, with fellow Horizon owners feting her during the annual Horizon Yacht USA Owners’ Rendezvous there this past spring.
Using the Horizon E88 series as the starting point, the shipyard started construction on spec, intending the first project for the U.S. market. Specifically, Horizon borrowed the E88’s beam of 21 feet (6.4 meters). It further fitted the yacht with the wave-piercing High Performance Piercing Bow found on its FD series. And, it created a country kitchen fully forward on the main deck.

The owners, who are experienced cruisers, appreciated these features, but especially liked the sense of volume and space. The open-plan main deck (above) particularly looks and feels spacious. It offers sightlines all the way aft from the U-shaped dining area in the country kitchen, directly beneath the raked windows. For when the crew is cleaning up or either the crew or owners want a little privacy, a pass-through from the galley to the formal dining table for eight can close off.
Although plenty of owners want main-deck master suites these days, the owners of Lazy Daze are plenty comfortable below decks. Their full-beam king suite shows off a stone-lined, walk-in shower, along with an Art Deco inspired headboard (at top). Guests, meanwhile, have a VIP and two convertible twin staterooms, with white stonework, light-tone white ash, and silver oak characterizing these areas as well as the relaxation areas throughout Lazy Daze.

What you don’t see aboard Lazy Daze, though, is the clever stowage. For example, the dining table’s base offers some, as does the L-shape leather settee and ottoman in the saloon. These complement the traditional cabinetry running along the starboard side of the saloon and dining area. Along the same lines of needing to accommodate more, the oval dining table expands for eight people.
Additionally, a good deal of consideration went into the day-to-day comfort and convenience of both crew and guests. The captain and up to three crewmembers have a dedicated mess aft below decks. They have a work area in the lazzarette as well. The enclosed wheelhouse features a dinette to starboard, opposite two fixed helm chairs. Handy day heads sit on this level as well as just inside the main aft-deck doors. Finally, a stacked washer and dryer are in the foyer outside the guest staterooms.
The owners of Lazy Daze are continuing their first few months of cruising, currently enjoying American shores.
