An owner with a “tenacious pursuit to build the best” is behind the newly signed Project Spyder yacht contract at The Italian Sea Group. She’s seeing construction under the Admiral Yachts brand, specifically a 289-foot Admiral 88.
While the owner and his family are remaining anonymous, they are from the United States. Kitson Yachts, a U.S. yacht-brokerage firm, introduced them to the yard. Brandon Kimmer and Michael Tabor, Kitson Yachts’ co-founders, describe their customer as having the above-mentioned tenacious spirit. This, and “our client’s attention to detail,” they add, “proved a perfect match for the capable team at The Italian Sea Group.”
The owner wasn’t the only one who brought particular ideas to the table. In fact, the entire family, including grandchildren, all influenced the overall design. The Project Spyder yacht design details evolved over 12 months of discussions with the shipyard, Espen Øino, and FM Architettura. For example, amid her five decks, she’ll have a pickle ball court, on the foredeck. Clearly planning to be active while cruising, the family additionally requested it convert to a basketball court. A playroom/observation suite will overlook it, too. They can also work out in the sundeck gym, then soak in a hot tub right nearby.
At the waterline, meanwhile, a 1,076-square-foot (100-square-meter) beach club will have four opening platforms to create terrace-like space. Skylights directly above actually will be glass panels in the swimming-pool floor. (The pool itself is further notable, 34 feet/10.3 meters long.) This should bring abundant light into the welcoming area, which includes a bar, a spa, and a massage room.
For quick arrivals and departures to check out the sights, Project Spyder will have a helipad on her foredeck. Finally, for the family to enjoy at anchor, abundant watertoys will sit in a dedicated garage.
FM Architettura is collaborating with the family on the looks for the nine staterooms and other relaxation areas. keeping interior-design “The owner and his family are a great source of inspiration and support,” Francesca Muzio, the studio’s co-founder, says.
Although the shipyard hasn’t released anticipated performance details, it does say that the Project Spyder yacht will have diesel-electric propulsion. It will further incorporate azimuthing Veth thrusters for easier maneuvering. She’ll put the system to its first tests just prior to delivery in 2027.
On a related subject, the contract is the third for The Italian Sea Group for an American client within the past year.
