Still going by her special hull number, the fully custom Benetti FB285NK yacht lowered into the water at the shipyard today. She’s even more special among superyachts, since she’ll be the owners’ true home.
The 220-footer (67-meter), with a volume of 1,250 tons, started construction in 2021. Even in the early design phases well before that, though, the owners were heavily, personally involved. In fact, one of the owners is a designer with extensive experience in luxury real estate. She therefore worked more closely than many owners do with Benetti and Cassetta Yacht Designers for deck layouts, woods and other décor materials, and the overall ambience. Her vision, according to the shipyard, resulted in a number of clever ways to truly live on the water.

For example, the Benetti FB285NK yacht accommodates fewer than is typical for her size range. Specifically, just 10 guests, including the owners, can stay aboard. Since the megayacht is meant solely for private life, there’s no need to comply with the customary six staterooms for 12 passengers. Secondly, as much as megayachts have floor-to-ceiling windows these days, the glass aboard this project is aesthetically impressive. The circular main-deck windows, a request by the designer-owner, are nearly 6’6” (2 meters) in diameter. This easily makes them what Cassetta Yacht Designers and Benetti consider the yacht’s signature feature. The natural light flooding in further amplies the nearly 37-foot (11.2-meter) beam. Smaller yet no less healthy in size circular windows bring guests below deck abundant natural light, too.
Finally, the owners wanted responsible sourcing for the woods appearing throughout the decks. Therefore, from the teak decking to the teak doors, furnishings, and aesthetic pillars, everything is FSC-certified. FSC is the Forest Stewardship Council, an international organization promoting responsible forestry management, for environmental, social, and economic benefits. With partner organizations, it helps ensure that trees don’t become overharvested and, equally important, get replanted, among other things.
In the coming weeks, the Benetti FB285NK yacht’s sea trials should confirm a top end of 16 knots. Her range at 10 knots should be 5,000 nautical miles.
