“Our clientele consists of experienced yachtsmen with a clear idea of how they envision their new yacht and who have precise navigation plans,” notes Vasco Buonpensiere, the co-founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche. An American who plans to take delivery of a Nauta Air 108 yacht fits that description perfectly, he adds. The megayacht is the sixth Nauta Air explorer from the Italian shipyard.
As for the owner, he’s a client of IYC, which partnered with Cantiere delle Marche for U.S. sales earlier this year. The contract is the first one resulting from the agreement. Neither Cantiere delle Marche nor IYC have elaborated on the owner’s cruising background. However, they do lend some insight into the overall design, layout, and equipment aboard the new project.
For instance, even though this Nauta Air 108 yacht is the sixth in the series, she differs from previous deliveries like Narvalo, hull number three. Firstly, she’s a little more chiseled in her styling (see Narvalo below, too). Secondly, in keeping with ensuring better views of surrounding and approaching shores, windows on all decks are much larger. Additionally, parts of the superstructure visually integrate with the windows on the main deck. And, finally, a nearly 20-foot-long (6-meter-long) tender and a dedicated davit sit forward on the main deck.
The latest 108-foot (33-meter) Nauta Air 108 yacht further has accommodations for 10, including a main-deck suite for the owner. A beam of 24 feet (7.43 meters) should make it look and feel roomy. Also roomy, the nice-sized sundeck should prove to be popular with friends and family, as should the main aft deck. Of course, for tender transfers to shore or fun on watertoys, the main deck provides quick access to the swim platform.
Like previous deliveries, this latest project pledges long range and shippy equipment that underscores her explorer nature. Twin 715-hp Caterpillar engines should allow a range of 4,500 nautical miles. Notably, the yacht also will have Dynamic Positioning instead of a typical anchoring system. It’s a hint that some regions with strict environmental regulations are in the cruising future.
Michel Cryssicopoulos, IYC’s global managing partner, calls extra attention to the Dynamic Positioning system and long range. Specifically, he says, “This CdM Nauta Air 108 is a true explorer with features only found on much larger yachts.” He continues by saying she has the “capacity to be months at sea,” and that his team looks forward to the build process.
