While Lürssen builds some of the largest yachts in the world and gets a lot of attention for these super-size superyachts, ones less than the 100-meter (330-foot) benchmark are still in its proverbial wheelhouse. In fact, its latest launch is a good example. The code-named Project Cali yacht emerged into the sunlight in Germany this week, a few months ahead of her delivery.
Limited details are available at this point. Firstly, the yacht’s LOA is 269 feet (82 meters). The styling is by the shipyard’s own Jim Robert Sluijter. (On a related note, Sluijter was an up-and-coming designer who about a decade ago collaborated with the shipyard to promote some of his ideas.) Among the most noticeable elements of the styling are a reverse bow and the deep, extended swim platform. Additionally, several long, rectangular windows characterize the areas just above the waterline. Despite her significant size, the Project Cali yacht looks overall are quite sleek.
According to the shipyard, the owners are a family who are passionate about the great outdoors. That helps explain the already-mentioned swim platform. It further explains how the beach club just beyond it has two ample fold-down hatches, which form the perfect perches above the ocean. Similarly ample, the sundeck stretches 98 feet (30 meters). The family looks forward to using it both daytime and nighttime, too. In fact, everyone can enjoy daily meals from a barbecue or notably, a pizza oven. Lounging beneath the warm sun can yield to watching midnight movies as yet another option.
Finally, while RWD is working with the owners for the interior arrangement and decor, Lürssen is not releasing specifics.
Sea trials and finishing touches are on the horizon for the yacht. Delivery is set for early next year, making her one of two superyachts that should see handover in the first quarter.
