Hull number one of a new performance sailing superyacht from Southern Wind Shipyard is about to start construction. With two longstanding design partners, it believes the SW100X yacht Allseas will shake up sailing, in a good way.
With Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design, the shipyard revealed the project initially in March. Fitted with a seaside lounge, no mere swim platform, the SW100X yacht introduces new thinking to performance-oriented sailing. The narrow hulls of sailing superyachts typically preclude having this lounge-like space. But the seaside lounge is 217 square feet (20.2 square meters) of flexible sunning and leisure areas just off the swim platform, which itself is wider, too.
That combination is just the beginning of the differences. Typically, large panes of glass on superyachts are only aboard motoryachts. The SW100X yacht Allseas, however, has larger-than-usual windows, for much better views and more natural interior light. The coachroof windows alone provide 270-degree views. As much as the hull windows are bigger, too, the entryway is remarkably a double-wide glass door. If you want even more glass, a central skylight is possible, atypical of sailing yachts—certainly performance onces.
Yet another difference, the yacht—available for contract—has more voluminous interior spaces. Southern Wind and the design teams reconfigured the tender garage. It sits transversal, versus fore to aft, to stow a tender up to 14 feet (4.35 meters). Therefore, the SW100X yacht Allseas offers interior leisure areas similar to that of a 105-footer (32-meter). In an industry where every foot counts, especially to owners, five feet can mean a lot.
The extra space benefits the popular four-stateroom interior configuration that so many Southern Wind customers like. Besides including a full-beam master suite (top), which can additionally feature a vanity or a chaise lounge, it incorporates a TV lounge (below). Notably, the TV lounge can instead be an office or a fantastic bar/lounge. Regardless, you also get a VIP stateroom amidships and two further staterooms, one forward of and one aft of the saloon. They’re twins convertible to doubles as well.
Four crewmembers, who get their own mess, have two en suite cabins, a nice touch. As an option, you can provide them with a door separating their mess from the galley, if you like to cook yourself.
Since Southern Wind Shipyard intends to start the carbon fiber hull shortly, you still have abundant time to personalize the project. Delivery can take place in early 2025.
