How do you measure success? Ask 10 people, and you may get 10 different answers. Undisputedly, though, those same people would agree that the yacht Ubiquitous is a true mark of success for Benetti. While being the second hull in the popular Oasis 34M semi-custom series is notable, that’s not the full story. By the time of her debut at last fall’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the shipyard had 20 further contracts.

For a series less than three years old, it’s a remarkable achievement. But, it’s not surprising once you understand what the yacht’s hallmark, and that of her series, is. “Oasis” means that the yacht Ubiquitous features the Benetti Oasis Deck. It’s a super-social, super-open (and often-copied) reinterpretation of the aft deck and transom. Benetti originally revealed it in 2018, exclusively as the centerpiece of the Benetti Oasis 135 project. Clients’ reactions, though, convinced Benetti and the design studio RWD, which co-created the arrangement, to make it a multiple-model family.

The Oasis Deck provides several attractive benefits. Firstly, owners and guests have uninterrupted, 270-degree views aft from the saloon. Secondly, an infinity pool sits right by the water’s edge. Thirdly, and most importantly, there’s no confined, cockpit-like area just past the saloon doors. Instead, tiered levels cascade down to the water, further with fold-down bulwarks to each side. Therefore, it expands space for lounging, sunning, and generally spending time together, without the long-traditional barriers.

Big, open terraced decks typically benefit much bigger boats. The yacht Ubiquitous is 113 feet (34 meters), arguably an entry-level size for many megayacht buyers. She simultaneously feels much larger due to the Oasis Deck amenities, yet remains intimate. This holds true even with accommodations for 10 people in five staterooms, along with a crew of six.

Being semi-custom, Ubiquitous reflects the way the owners envisioned living on the water. Their layout choices surely will resonate with other cruisers. Particularly noteworthy, the dining area and main saloon are flipped. The table and chairs are immediately inside the curved sliding glass doors between the interior and the Oasis Deck. Surely, they’ll remain open on most days, too, for a more enjoyable experience. The saloon is more of a TV or movie lounge, as is the skylounge. (The owners collaborated with Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture.) Two of the best seats in the house, meanwhile, are the observation settee on the flying bridge and the bow lounge. The former is at the aft edge, facing aft as well. The bow lounge is just as it sounds, a cozy spot for seeing distant shores come closer.

With so many more customers following in the footsteps of the owners of Ubiquitous, Benetti seemingly doesn’t need to change a thing. However, settling isn’t in its DNA. The newest Oasis 34M megayachts additionally can have a balcony to starboard in the main-deck owner’s suite. If that doesn’t speak to universal appeal, we don’t know what does.
