There are explorer yachts, and then there’s the yacht Dardanella. For much of the past decade, she has cruised some of the most remote regions of the Pacific. She plans to continue plying its lesser-known waters, too. If a purpose-built, true expedition superyacht is what you’re seeking, you can get aboard at the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
With launch occurring in 1998 and a refit in 2018, Dardanella has put tens of thousands of miles under her hull. (The photos here are from a recent Costa Rica stay.) Adventure is the watchword for every aspect of her design and construction. In fact, the Dutch studio Vripack handled naval architecture, styling, and interior design. The studio has earned renown for its oceangoing vessels, some of which have tackled the toughest seas. Vitters Shipyard, another Dutch company, constructed her. Although it is better known for its sailing superyachts, it balanced the owners’ priorities of luxury and bluewater performance.
At 121 feet (37 meters) LOA, and with a relatively shallow draft for a steel yacht, Dardanella has made a point of accessing waters others cannot. Simultaneously, she’s made a point of letting guests dive waters others have not. The eight-person crew is experienced in diving, too, and can guide guests—the yacht Dardanella is for charter, and for sale—on trips. Should surface fun be your preference, though, an abundance of surfboards and other watertoys are for the taking.
Pre- and post-adventures, you can admire the artefacts that the owners have picked up in all of their journeys. The 283-gross-ton megayacht displays them the way it does artwork, amid a cherrywood interior. From room to room, you’ll certainly see why the idea is to pay tribute to the world’s oceans.
The yacht Dardanella has an asking price of €9 million (about $9.85 million at press time). Her weekly charter rate starts at $125,000, with availability in Central America. During the show, she will be in the Y.CO display.
