It may come as no surprise that the yacht Frette gets her name from the renowned Italian provider of fine bed and bath linens. It further may not surprise you that throughout the decks, custom Frette linens lend luxurious touches. They’re part of the owner’s vision to provide a polished, soothing space for enjoying the cruising lifestyle.
A Columbus Atlantique 43 project, the yacht bears design that in many ways is a marriage of two other renowned design worlds. Specifically, the automotive world and sailing world come together in the profile. Hot Lab, responsible for styling, brings in classic elements of Italian GT sports cars. Simultaneously, the studio introduces classic sailboat stern scoops—at the transom, of course.
As much as sports cars and sailboats played a role, though, the 143-foot (43.6-meter) yacht Frette is without doubt a modern motoryacht. She puts a significant amount of open-air real estate at the owners’ and their guests’ disposal at the scooped transom, in fact. It comes whether two folding side platforms are open or closed. This area is 19 inches (50 centimeters) from the lapping waves just below, too, to feel more connected to the seascapes. Additionally, two aft-facing settees and a dining table just two steps up from the centerline pool invite all aboard to soak in the views.
Like all of Columbus Yachts’ projects, the yacht Frette is the realization of the owner’s vision. Not only did he want ample alfresco areas, but also a nearly seamless indoor atmosphere. Full-height windows and glass doors seem to disappear when gazing out at the horizon. Additionally, the décor is striking yet doesn’t detract from the natural outdoor beauty. Brushed and bleached American walnut lies underfoot in a herringbone pattern, for example. It lends a sense of lightness, as do oak walls on the main deck, a mélange of fabric walls on the lower deck, and white-lacquered wood ceilings.
With furnishings from Armanii Casa, Fendi Casa, Paola Lenti, and Paolo Castelli, the yacht Frette is a comfortably contemporary cruiser.
