Acquiring a megayacht with a strong charter track record is one thing. Buying arguably the most high-profile charter yacht in the world is quite another. The iconic yacht Loon is unquestionably top of mind among plenty of charter guests, in large part due to the owners’ and crew’s adoption of smart social media strategies. For the same reason, the yacht should find new owners relatively soon, since she just joined the sales market.
From Instagram to YouTube, hundreds of thousands of social media followers see how the crew goes about duties and how the yacht operates. Behind-the-scenes photos and videos reveal the crew prepping for guests, for instance, along with demonstrating the latest watertoys. Followers further see some of the same sights that charter guests do and learn why those destinations are so popular. The crew has gone live as well to answer followers’ questions.
Such exceptionally open and accessible attitudes have paid off in spades. According to Merle Wood & Associates, which holds her central sales listing, Loon has grossed upwards of $13 million in charter revenue in 18 months. Nearly $4 million of that is for upcoming charters this year, too.
The 18-person crew weighs heavily into why the iconic yacht Loon attracts some of the same charter guests annually. Of course, the onboard amenities are strong factors as well. For instance, despite her 221-foot (67-meter) LOA and immense volume of 1,295 gross tons, multiple rooms suit alone time. The saloon (above) is one, with a two-person seating area complementing the traditional large facing settees. The main office one deck above provides a quiet respite as well. Mind and body wellness await in the massage room and sauna within the beach club—itself one of Loon’s calling cards (below). In fact, a 16-foot (5-meter) extension a decade ago created it, reportedly the largest on a superyacht of her size. The beach club, additionally with a gym, opens on three sides.
That same extension made the aft-deck pool possible. Initially, when the yacht Loon was delivered in 2010, pools simply weren’t onboard lifestyle amenities. Since design trends change rapidly, the owners added one, specifically measuring 25 feet long (7.5 meters long). That size, too, is a stand-out feature.
There’s even more: seven staterooms, high ceilings and big windows making her airier, and a master suite spanning two decks. Add it all together, and calling her the iconic yacht Loon is no overstatement.
Currently chartering in the Med for the summer, the yacht will be at the Monaco Yacht Show for interested parties to tour. Her asking price is $47.5 million.
