Between her grey paint scheme and rugged lines, the yacht RJ leaves little doubt as to what her intentions are. The owners of the intrepid superyacht, which launched this week at Cantiere delle Marche, are avid adventurers who have put thousands of nautical miles under the keels of multiple yachts. They’re eagerly awaiting the delivery to continue chasing horizons.
Announced in 2022 as the shipyard’s largest superyacht, the newly-in-the-water project is further the largest of its RJ series. In fact, she belongs to the RJ155 series. Briefly, the entire RJ range stays true to the shipyard’s ethos of constructing bluewater-capable cruisers, but cloaking them in more yacht-like styling. That explains why softer edges combine with angular lines in her profile, along with her flared bow. It also explains why the steel hull contains robust machinery and backups aplenty.
This yacht is for repeat customers of Cantiere delle Marche, who bought an RJ130, christening her RJ, too. With the longer length this time around, naturally more stowage, more volume (just shy of 500 gross tons), and more creature comforts come as well. “We’re thrilled with the RJ line’s appeal and honored that a returning client has entrusted us with such a significant project,” says Ennio Cecchini, the yard’s president and co-founder.
In terms of the creature comforts, the owners worked with Achille Salvagni to create “a soulful floating home,” the designer says. “Eschewing marine clichés, its sculptural spaces evoke serenity and character.” Across her three decks, the yacht RJ has an abundance of custom loose furniture from Salvagni. An air of comfortable elegance characterizes her, too. This extends to the group social areas as much as the five staterooms (for 12 people in total, unusually).

Perhaps as a way to jumpstart their day, the owners have a gym in their suite. Elsewhere, meanwhile, shaded alfresco dining and lounging areas are cool ways to take in the sights and sounds during voyages. Furthermore, those voyages have the ability to be extensive. According to Cantiere delle Marche, the yacht should see a range upwards of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
The owners will take delivery before the end of the summer.
