An experienced cruiser who derives great joy from spending periods at sea is building a fully custom megayacht. While his Baglietto yacht Project Farah is still under tight wraps, hints of what is yet to come paint a vivid picture of a happy lifestyle.
Baglietto has earned renown for its variety of semi-custom superyacht series. For instance, its T Line, which includes the newly launched first hull in the T60 yacht series, prioritizes long range. Simultaneously, the range echoes some of the traditional lines (which denotes “T” in the name) of deliveries over the years. Although most of its customers prefer the set engineering package and quicker delivery of semi-custom models, Baglietto still welcomes fully custom builds.
The yacht Project Farah is one of the more unusual custom megayachts currently under construction globally. Firstly, the styling and interior design for the 163-footer (49.7-meter) result from a collaboration between two Brazilian studios. One of them, Matheus Farah e Manoel Maia Arquitetura, is new to yacht design, too. It has roots in custom home architecture in Brazil, the United States, and France, with an emphasis on technology and low-environmental impact solutions. The other studio, Fernando de Almeida Yacht Design, has penned designs by Inace, among other builders.
Together, they have interpreted the owners’ wishes for crisp, clean lines in distinctive-looking ways. Angular, strong, and modern, the yacht Project Farah appears all the more powerful due to a metallic grey hull and a black superstructure. With Baglietto’s in-house engineering team, they have ensured some design features, like the vertical bow, serve practical purposes as well.
A widely touted benefit of plumb bows is more interior room. The Baglietto yacht Project Farah has a volume just under 500 gross tons, as you’d expect. The way the design is falling into place will make it feel even more open and welcoming. Interestingly, the owner purposely chose “Farah” because of its meaning. Of Arabic origin, it means joy, happiness, and similar emotions. Happiness is exactly what the owner told the interior designers—same as the exterior-styling studios—he wanted to feel. It was important to feel at home, for example, but also celebrate what Baglietto calls an epicurean vision of life at sea.
That same philosophy weaves its way throughout the entire yacht. Not just fine living, but fine health are important for the owner and guests to experience. Ensuring family and friends feel welcome every time they step onboard is as well. Matheus Farah e Manoel Maia Arquitetura and Fernando de Almeida Yacht Design are ensuring design continuity inside from alfresco areas so that the warmth pervades every space. Symmetry is another way they’re executing the vision, as is the capability to re-arrange areas to accommodate varying special celebrations and needs.
With the natural attraction of woods and leathers in the décor, along with subdued gold accents, the superyacht is set for delivery next year.
