Don’t let the sporty lines or her size fool you. The 115-foot (35-meter) yacht Stellamar will cruise the globe on her own bottom. In fact, according to Vasco Buonpensiere, Cantiere delle Marche’s co-founder and CEO, the owners will “redesign their working schedule” purposely to visit “the farthest corners of the world.”
The new launch, whose contract signing occurred during the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival, comes from the drawing boards of Francesco Paszkowski Design. The owners liked the styling the studio penned for the shipyard’s RJ series, therefore making this one of a few hulls in the range so far. (Specifically, she’s an RJ 115.) It reflects more traditional motoryacht looks than the rugged profiles typical of true explorers. However, the construction and engineering, the latter from Hydro Tec, are as robust as prior Cantiere delle Marche deliveries. In fact, one of the most robust features is one most people won’t see. It’s a crane to launch hefty tenders, stowing flush into the structure when not in use. Cantiere delle Marche likes to call it the “invisible crane.”
Displacing 283 tons, Stellamar puts significant range at her owners’ disposal. She should be capable of covering 4,500 nautical miles at 9 to 10 knots. Although the owners aren’t disclosing their itinerary, they do plan to take friends and family to secluded spots worldwide. The yacht’s range is more than enough for transatlantic crossings, continuing onward for some time.
Eight to 10 guests can stay aboard in the four guest staterooms below decks, due to Pullman berths. The owners have a main-deck suite. It includes a sauna with infrared lighting within the shower, along with a hammam. The owners worked with Paszkowski’s studio on interior design and layout. Notably, the female half of the owners is an architect as well. Some of the design highlights include large windows to make staterooms and lounges bright. Natural oak lies underfoot and overhead, too, while cream leather covers walls to create a soothing ambience. Additionally, Paszkowski’s studio designed all built-in furnishings, simultaneously selecting with the owners top-name retailers like Poltrona Frau for further pieces.
Outdoor enjoyment will be a priority as well. The yacht Stellamar therefore has healthy-size dining areas and lounges on each open deck area. For crew (six hands plus the captain) and guest circulation, all the alfresco stairways are on the port side.
Since Stellamar, as mentioned above, is an RJ series yacht, it’s notable that the owner of the first RJ (christened RJ, too), is building yet another one. She’ll be an RJ 115. “Throughout the years, we have showed the market that we are able to build true explorers that have both the elegance and style of a luxury yacht,” Buonpensiere says. “The solutions we have fielded to make the RJ line meet all these requirements are once again driving CdM’s explorer yachts forward.”
