While Cantiere delle Marche’s Flexplorer series is semi-custom, it’s a lot closer to custom considering what customers continue to do. The owner of the yacht Mat is one of the latest to tailor not just the interior but even the number of decks and the equipment that lets her rove around the world with a plethora of toys.
Mat rolled out for launch in June 2024, with the long, open aft deck symbolic of the series. It’s the perfect place to stow big tenders for exploring shorelines as well as other watertoys. Unlike other Flexplorers, though, this 146-footer (44.46-meter) doesn’t have a big, bold A-frame crane for hauling them out of the water. Instead, the owner preferred a concealed crane similar to yet other Cantiere delle Marche and Hydro Tec-designed deliveries. The crane emerges from the sundeck overhang to lift the toys off the deck. Folding bulwarks complementing the aft deck make it simpler to lower the toys in the water. They simultaneously make more sunning and lounging space for the owner and guests to use at anchor.
The trideck, 482-gross-ton yacht Mat has multiple leisure spaces for the owner and guests to enjoy. But it’s the way that the owner arranged them with Nauta Design that makes a big difference. For instance, the upper deck has two dining areas, one inside and one alfresco. In fact, the only other rooms up here are the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin. The main deck, meanwhile, is nearly entirely for relaxation, dominated by the saloon and master suite. Mat’s profile is deceiving, because her interior doesn’t extend all the way to the aft edge of the sundeck overhang. Instead, a healthy amount of open alfresco space sits directly beneath the overhang. This sheltered space therefore makes the saloon extra-open and entirely protected when its sliding glass doors are open. And, thanks to full-height windows on both sides and a widebody layout to starboard, it’s airy.
Bleached oak, white fabrics, and sprinkles of blue make the ambience aboard the yacht Mat a tactile experience without overloading the senses. After all, the emphasis aboard a superyacht should mostly be on the wide-open environment surrounding her. With a range of 5,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, Mat can immerse her owner and guests in quite a lot of environments, too.

While the yachting world waits for the tales of travels to come, here’s a look at how they might unfold.
