The captain, 20 crewmembers, and of course the owner of the yacht Pangea are getting closer to their first summer season onboard. Sea trials have just started for their new globetrotting-capable cruiser.
With an expected range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 months, the megayacht has the perfect name for her abilities. Pangea was the name for the supercontinent hundreds of millions of years ago that sat on earth. This supercontinent broke up due to the earth’s shifting plates, eventually into the handful of continents we know today.
Also known as Amels 8001, Pangea is the first Amels 80 launch, part of the broader Limited Editions semi-custom range. Damen Yachting selected a diesel-electric propulsion system for the Amels 80 and collaborated with Espen Øino International for styling, before any clients signed contracts. Espen Øino himself says he strove to keep the profile “as simple and plain as possible,” avoiding flourishes that serve no purpose. He also says that “because of the lifespan of this program”—meaning the anticipated deliveries to come—he wants each delivery to have enduring appeal, whether she’s the first or the very last.

It certainly worked with the owner of the yacht Pangea, who signed the contract for her six months after Damen Yachting unveiled the design. The amenities resonated, too. For example, the sundeck is massive, unfolding over 2,153 square feet (200 square meters). Dining, enjoying the views and cooling breezes when heading to another destination, and just simply relaxing are all possible. Yet another feature that the owner and guests are looking forward to putting to good use is the pool. It’s 21 feet (6.5 meters) long.
With an internal volume of 2,175 gross tons, the yacht Pangea has a lot of advantages inside, too. Since wellness is a priority these days, the owner liked the idea of having a spa and a sauna inside the beach club. They’re in proximity to a gym, too, along with a hammam and a separate massage room.
Although images aren’t available for the interiors, according to the owner’s team, the custom requests truly lend a look that is unmistakably hers.
