Bluegame BGX83 Yacht Blends Sport & Superyacht Style

Twenty-two years after Luca Santella, a European Olympian and champion sailor, established Bluegame, the Italian yard has its first superyacht. The BGX83 yacht may be bolder and bigger than her predecessors, but she remains an intimate, owner-focused cruiser. The upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show will be your best chances to see her in person, too.

Bluegame emerged to offer yacht buyers unconventional-looking yet practical ways to enjoy their favorite lifestyle. In 2018, Sanlorenzo Group acquired the brand, keeping Santella as the head of product strategy. The initial BG range of boats and yachts gradually welcomed sister series as a result. The BGX line, for which the 84-foot (25.6-meter) BGX83 yacht is the flagship, represents a crossover series. In fact, “X” signifies the Sanlorenzo SX yacht series, like the Sanlorenzo SX100 yacht. In this sense, crossover really means classic motoryacht looks blended with sportier appeal. That sportiness extends to performance, too. According to Bluegame, the BGX83 yacht can top out around 30 knots and cruise at 26 knots. Since efficiency is as much a priority as design, Bluegame has equipped her with triple Volvo Penta IPS units.

Her big-boat looks outside are from Zuccon International Project in conjunction with Santella, while interiors are from Lissoni & Partners. Those two renowned superyacht studios understand the mindset of buyers taking their firs step into large luxury yacht territory. They therefore strive to keep things practical and livable, while still injecting healthy doses of flair.

For example, the folding sides fully aft at the waterline appeal to owners whose previous yachts have had fixed cockpits or mostly enclosed decks. Another highlight is the ability to step down into a cozy beach club lounge, or up to the open-plan saloon. The beach club has a mirrored wall for looking and feeling more open, too. Additionally, buyers have a choice of three or four staterooms, all below decks. With the higher stateroom count, the galley becomes an open-air show kitchen on the main deck. Either way, the master suite extends across the full 21-foot (6.3-meter) beam.

Although the BGX83 yacht officially made her debut in January at Boot Düsseldorf, the majority of interested clients will get their chance to see her this fall. Following the Monaco Yacht Show, she’ll also be at the Genoa International Boat Show in October. “This autumn’s shows are a real milestone for Bluegame,” notes Gianguido Girotti, CEO of Bluegame’s CEO. “For the first time, we will bring almost our entire range to a single season of events. With a portfolio spanning 42 to 83 feet, we can finally show the yachting community just how wide and how coherent the Bluegame world has become.”

No details are available yet on when she’ll make her American debut.
