The DART yacht-concept series from Royal Huisman has a “little” sister, the DART65. The 213-footer (62-meter) bears similar styling cues, derived from the marine environment, and lifestyle amenities meant to increase enjoyment of cruising.
The DART projects date to 2013. The initial concept was for a motoryacht and a sailing yacht, each measuring 262 feet (80 meters). Andrew Winch Designs collaborated with Royal Huisman to create them. Later on, Azure Naval Architects joined the process. At the introduction, Andrew Winch said that both he and the shipyard wanted to capture “the spirit of the sea.” Literal interpretations of that appear in the design. The shape of the DART80 sheerline, in both the sail and power versions, mimics a dolphin leaping from the water. The motoryacht’s mast, meanwhile, resembles a whale’s tail. The DART65, with a raised pilothouse, features the same styling elements.
The DART65 further incorporates the sloping transom and stepped aft deck that made the DART80 an eye-catcher. Seen below, the idea is to allow owners and guests to take in the surroundings better than they can with a fold-down beach club. Winch put it succinctly in 2013: “Why make a platform when you can make the beach in the yacht itself?” The freshwater pool situated aft on the DART65 gets complemented by a hot tub, if wanted as part of an overall relaxation area, on the foredeck.
Lounges on all three decks, including a full-beam main-deck zone, characterize the DART65 as well. That beam: 36 feet (11 meters). Some of the lounges connect directly to outdoor areas. Full-height glass flanking the main-deck lounge, plus the owners’ suite forward, make the megayacht even more inviting. In fact, the owners’ suite has panoramic views.
Buyers interested in the DART65 can opt for different hull colors, even a hardtop made of carbon fiber. That hardtop can also have an awning slide out over the sundeck. Fun features like a cinema, a spa, and a gym can be aboard for your party of 12, attended to by a crew of 16. Royal Huisman and Andrew Winch Designs will design the general arrangement around the way you like to live.
Thanks to Azure Naval Architects, Royal Huisman says the DART65 can take you on ocean crossings and other global adventures. She should have a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 14 knots. Top speed should be 17½ knots, under twin MTU 16V2000 M72 power.
