Earlier this week I told you about how yacht construction in Turkey is booming. Further proof: This yachtfisherman that just launched from Logos Marine.
Logos Marine, located in Tuzla, was established three years ago by Cem.Tuncyurek and Mehmet Yurdakul, both of whom are naval architects and marine engineers and have several years’ experience with other yacht yards in the country. While Logos Marine additionally assists other local builders with design and contract management, it has already built a 39-foot, steel-hulled trawler and is finishing two all-fiberglass 50-footers designed by Fry Associates, a.k.a. FRYCO.
It’s no surprise, then, to learn that FRYCO is also the design firm behind this 113-foot yachtfisherman. According to FRYCO chief Ed Fry, the owner, a three-time client of his, is passionate about participating in fishing tournaments and plying the Red Sea for his quarry. The 23-foot-cockpit should handily hold whatever the owner hauls in over the transom, as should refrigerated fishboxes (which double as cold stowage for long trips through the Med).
For times when the owner is either entertaining guests or relaxing on his own at night, he can ask the crew to turn on the five 1,000-watt floodlights and ten underwater lights. An underwater camera can then display the activity around the boat or along the many Red Sea reefs on the 50-inch TV in the main saloon.
Other amenities underscore how the 113-footer is meant to serve as a megayacht in addition to being a fishing machine. Pear wood is used for paneling in many places, and all en suite baths feature marble. Nine guests can be accommodated on the lower deck, forward of the master suite, which has opening ports. And sunbathing and refreshments are the orders of the day on the bridge deck, thanks to sunpads, lounge chairs, and a full wet bar.
Logos Marine should be putting the yacht through sea trials around the time you’re reading this; she’s expected to hit 30 knots thanks to triple Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines totaling 5,475 hp and coupled with custom five-blade Duncan propellers. Delivery is set for a few weeks from now.
