On the heels of selling its Sunrise 45 (above) to a Swiss client, Sunrise Yachts has unveiled a new series, to be developed with renowned designer Espen Oeino.
Specifically, the Turkish shipyard will begin construction on 45-, 55-, and 65-meter megayachts. The 45 (148 feet) will be extendible to 50 meters (164 feet), and the 55 (180 feet) will be extendible to 60 meters (197 feet). The yachts will collectively be referred to as the Sunrise/Oeino Series.
The reason for the move? Sunrise says it has received inquiries for vessels in this size range, plus it has been monitoring activity in the overall superyacht market. Oeino has become a popular designer in recent years, having collaborated with Lürssen, among others.
All three yachts will employ abundant use of space and light and emphasize both style and engineering. Oeino says, “We are looking forward to working with Sunrise and their hugely experienced team… we will endeavor to incorporate some very exciting features rarely seen on yachts on this size.”
Guillaume Roche, one of the founding partners of Sunrise Yachts, puts it this way: “With these new designs, we want to offer the market a compelling alternative to the most established and striking designs available anywhere in the world.”
We’ll all have to stay tuned until springtime, when further information and perhaps images will be released.
In the meantime, the Sunrise 45 that sold within the past few weeks will be christened Africa and should be delivered next June. The owner has extensively chartered and was ready to step into ownership shoes for the first time. Exterior styling is by the late Paolo Scanu, and the interior is from Franck Darnet.
