How fitting is it that Benetti splashed two megayachts with “harmony” and “angel” in their names around the most romantic day on the calendar, Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day itself, in fact, was when Harmony III (above), the 12th launch in Benetti’s Vision line, slipped into the water at the Italian yard’s Viareggio facility. The all-fiberglass, 45-meter (147’6”) yacht features cherrywood paneling as well as marble and stainless steel accents inside. Upon completion in the coming weeks, she’ll cruise the Med for the summer season, then head across to the Caribbean for the winter.

Three days later, at Benetti’s Livorno facility, Silver Angel (above) became the first project of the year to depart the shed. She also became the 14th yacht to be constructed or finished at this facility since Benetti acquired it in 2003. Measuring 65 meters (213 feet), Silver Angel features a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with accommodations for 14 guests and upwards of 18 crew. But that’s where any similarities to previous 65-meter steel yachts from Benetti ends: Inside, Silver Angel is adorned with 1,200 square meters (nearly 13,000 square feet) of glossy black oak throughout guest and crew areas, complemented with white onyx. Stefano Natucci, the stylist for many Benettis, collaborated with London-based Argent Design on the interior, as well as the placement of travertine marble on some outside surfaces.
These two yachts are among the four Benetti expects to complete by the end of this year, with five more to follow by the end of 2010. The latter includes the first launch in its new Imagination line, which I detailed in this month’s Megayacht News newsletter. (To get your copy, sign up here.)
