The Serenity Series continues to do well for Cheoy Lee, with a repeat client taking delivery of a Serenity 90 Expedition Yacht in late February.
The owner previously had a Serenity 68, so the new megayacht is a significant step up in size. There’s also significantly more room for entertaining. The 90-footer has accommodations for 10 people in four staterooms, though two more friends or family can stay in the convertible skylounge. (The day head up here is larger than usual as a result and features a shower.) Two double staterooms forward of the engine room each feature Pullman berths, and the VIP stateroom accompanies the master aft of the engine room.
Because the owner and guests enjoy watersports, the Serenity 90 Expedition Yacht has a dive locker in the lazarette and totes both a PWC and Hobie Cat. The two toys are housed on the foredeck, alongside a Novurania RIB and a davit capable of launching any of the craft.
Even with the extra length, the owners wanted the decor to be akin to that of their Serenity 68. High-gloss teak lines the walls in relaxation areas and even the two double crew cabins fully forward below decks. (Note that each crew cabin also has an en suite head, a nice touch.) But one difference comes in the form of LED lighting. They draw less power and emit less heat, which helps lessen the need for air-conditioning and further reduces power consumption.
Even the yacht’s long-range cruising ability will be energy efficient. The Serenity 90 Expedition Yacht is said to have a range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, burning just 13 gph at full load. Top speed is a leisurely 14 knots. Power comes courtesy of twin 600-hp Caterpillar C18s.
The captain naturally can run the yacht from the traditional wheelhouse, forward of the skylounge. But there’s also a full docking station on the sundeck, aft of the skylounge. Guests can observe him from the wetbar barstools or dining table out here, too.
