Two American success stories have joined forces for the 129-foot (39.52-meter) design you see here.
One of the parties is the well-known Burger Boat Company. The other may not be as well known but is nonetheless someone to keep on your radar. He’s Ivan Erdevicki, a Croatian-born naval architect. He started his career working directly for American yards and designers, before establishing a studio of his own in Canada. His portfolio includes racing and superyacht sailboats as well as motoryachts.
The 40m Motor Yacht, as the design is called, has modern flair to her styling. While most Burgers are classic in appearance, consider that Tò-Kalòn, launched in 2008, was modern in style, too. While the profile shown here reflects a blue hull, note that additional colors are available (the project is for sale). The 40m Motor Yacht’s anticipated performance is thoroughly modern as well. Twin MTU 16V4000 M94 diesels should permit a 22-knot top end. Dialed back to 11 knots, she should see a 2,500-nautical-mile range.
Inside, the Burger Design Team and Erdevicki envision a contemporary atmosphere. Given the LOA, they wisely keep the saloon and formal dining areas open to one another, rather than partition them off. A bar also lies aft to starboard in the saloon. Other highlights: a curving staircase to take center stage in the main foyer. It connects the four guest staterooms with the rest of the relaxation spaces. Unusual for the LOA, but common for megayachts, the full-beam (25-foot, or 7.62-meter) master suite is forward on the main deck. And while some builders in this size range eschew country kitchens, Burger includes one. It’s safe to say an American buyer will put this area to more use than the formal dining area. No doubt that will be to the delight of the chef, one of four or five crewmembers besides the captain.
Lest you think all the attention was devoted to enclosed spaces, consider this. Of the 1,784 square feet of alfresco space, 1,170 square feet of it is teak-decked. (That’s 166 square meters and 109 square meters, respectively.) Much of it is devoted to lounging and dining, given the tender—a 19-footer—is stowed in a garage.
