Having delivered 10 megayachts in its 56-meter (184-foot) series, Perini Navi is changing things up a bit. It’s introducing a 60-meter (197-foot) series with many of the same features. Not only has it already signed two contracts, but in a surprising move, Perini Navi has revealed that the projects are worth more than €70 million (about $98.26 million) combined.
One contract is for a ketch configuration (above), while the other is a sloop (left). Perini Navi is thus far only referring to the megayachts by their hull/contract numbers, C. 2193 and C. 2218, respectively. C. 2193 will be delivered in 2013, while C. 2218 should launch the following year.
Perini Navi has not disclosed specifics about either project, other than that naval architecture and interior design are both from the in-house team. However, given that the 60-meter series is based on the 56-meter series, some assumptions are likely safe to make. The 56-meter series included deliveries like Fidelis, Panthalassa, and Salute. No doubt that, similar to those and its other 56-meter megayachts, the Perini Navi 60-meter series will feature all-aluminum construction. Since the 56-meter series megayachts also had a top speed just shy of 15 knots, the 60-meter-series sailing yachts will likely be in that range. And, like the 56-meter yachts, perhaps future 60-meter models will feature interior design by teams tapped by the owners.
In the meantime, the Perini Navi Group is prepping two yachts for launch. This first will be in August: the second Vitruvius motoryacht from Picchiotti, a 55-meter (180-footer). Shortly thereafter Perini Navi will deliver its fourth 45-meter (148-foot) sailing yacht.
