The third long-range motoryacht in the Picchiotti Vitruvius series, Grace E recently wrapped up sea trials. The 239’5” (73-meter) megayacht should therefore be delivered soon.
The Perini Navi Group, which owns Picchiotti, says tests went as planned. Grace E was engineered for a 16½-knot cruising speed, for example. Good fuel economy is also a priority for the Vitruvius series. (Fuel-burn figures have not been released, however.) The all-aluminum megayacht is also equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system featuring azipods. Her captain, Eddie Cooney, says that the setup yields “exceptional quietness and comfort while navigating.” He adds, There is little evidence that the boat is underway unless you are looking out the windows and actually witnessing the changing landscape. We expect that this will be a very much appreciated asset to guests cruising aboard.” So, too, should the Dynamic Positioning system aboard Grace E. This computer-control system automatically maintains a vessel’s position via her thrusters and propellers. It counteracts environmental forces like seas and wind.
It’s worth noting that Grace E is the first Picchiotti Vitruvius series yacht to feature azipods. The previous two launches, Exuma and Galileo G, did have diesel-electric propulsion, however. And, Grace E has the same hull design as they do.
Rising five decks high, Grace E features interior design by Remi Tessier Design. (On a side note, Tessier is no stranger to the Perini Navi Group, having been tapped for the decor of Parsifall III and Salute.) Images are not yet available, but the decor is said to have strong modern accents. The entire upper deck is also devoted to spa-like features such as a sauna and a hydrotherapy pool. In addition, like any proper megayacht, Grace E will have watertoys at the disposal of her owners and guests. They include a Cockwells tender. It measures 31’2” (9.5 meters) and underwent sea trials last summer.
This video reveals more of Grace E from her early construction through her completion.
