The fourth time seems to be the charm for the owner of D’Natalin IV. Having been handed over in late May by Christensen Shipyards, the 160-foot (48.9-meter) megayacht is delighting him and his family so far. “I could not be more pleased with the results,” he says, in a statement released by Christensen. “The layout of her four spacious decks makes D’Natalin IV the most comfortable yacht I have ever owned, and I never get tired of staring at her beautiful blue hull.”
D’Natalin IV is part of the Christensen 160 Custom Series, which last saw a launch in 2011 with Remember When. The all-fiberglass yacht is classed to ABS and MCA compliant, additionally meeting LY2 standards.
The owner and his family were involved in many aspects of the design and build. Joe Foggia, president of Christensen, says they were “wonderful to work with” and calls them “true American patriots” for building stateside. Their broker, Christian Bakewell of Merle Wood & Associates, adds,“From the outset, this was to be a family yacht, so it was only fitting that the owner and his entire family were involved in every important design decision. Because they are such gracious and appreciative people, there was this very real sense among the entire build team that everyone just wanted to work that much harder for them. Seeing the broad smiles on the faces of the whole family as we walked through the finished product together for the first time was a very gratifiying experience for me.”
D’Natalin IV blends time-honored and contemporary design elements both outside and inside. She accommodates 12 in the owner’s party and 10 crew. The yacht, with a beam of 29’6” (9 meters), even has some American flair, honoring both the owner’s nationality and where she was built. Note her bold red bootstripe, complementing her blue and white paint job overall.
The draft of 7’10” (just over 2.4 meters) will allows D’Natalin IV to access a good range of ports worldwide. She’s currently cruising in Alaska, where she’s been since just after delivery. (D’Natalin IV has a reported range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Twin 1,650-hp Caterpillars should permit a 15-knot cruise.) Hopefully the family has had a chance to launch the yacht’s two Novurania tenders to explore closer to shore.

A stunning accomplishment of a loving family and a dedicated team who could enjoy seeing each family member contribute what they do best! Congratulations to all for a truly unique yacht built for the generations.

Saw it anchored off Eagle Beach, Aruba last week where it spent about 24 hrs off the sandy shoreline and was fully lighted at night. Beautiful ship!
