Four years after its inception at Royal Huisman, the Huisfit division seems busier than ever. It’s wrapping up three refits and fielding inquiries for a dozen more for next winter.
Currently at the yard are Hyperion and Antares, sailing superyachts built by Royal Huisman, and Skat, the warship-like motoryacht from Lürssen. The Huisfit team has been working on Hyperion the longest. She arrived after the summer season, which she spent in Scandinavian waters. On her Huisfit to-do list: new gensets, upgraded navigation and communication systems, new teak decks, and a repaint.
Antares (above) is wrapping up her 10-year Lloyds survey. Some of the Huisfit tasks have included new teak decks and a repaint of the hull, superstructure, and spars. As for Skat, she’s a repeat customer of Huisfit. Previously she was serviced by the team in 2012. This time around, Huisfit has given her new teak decks, a repaint, plus tune-ups for doors and opening platforms as well as the engines and gensets, among other tasks.
Prior to Hyperion, Antares, and Skat being serviced, Huisfit further refitted Athena. The refit team traveled to Palma de Mallorca to do the work. (Huisfit collaborates with other shipyards.) Athena had already planned a tight cruising schedule, so the Med locale was easiest. New electricals and interior varnish were on a short punchlist.
Huisfit has already booked at least one project for next winter: Adèle. Details aren’t yet public on when she’ll arrive or what will be done. Regardless, Royal Huisman is negotiating with 12 additional yachts for refits for the same season.
