The latest megayacht models from Overmarine Group stay true to the company’s Mangusta maxi roots yet simultaneously expand its Oceano long-range cruiser footprint. They are the Mangusta GranSport 48 and Oceano 55.
The Mangusta GranSport 48 (above) preserves the Mangusta themes of open spaces and powerful profiles. There is a difference with this 157’7” (48.06-meter) megayacht, though. She’s the first Mangusta—the first Overmarine yacht, period—to employ a fast-displacement hull. As such, she’ll still see a good top speed with twin MTUs, expected to be 26 knots, yet emphasize better fuel consumption. Best range of 3,800 miles should come around 12 knots. Also a first for Mangusta, the Mangusta GranSport 48 features zero-speed stabilizers.
Despite the sporty profile, the new yacht is a raised-pilothouse configuration. And with a beam of 28’9” (8.8 meters), she should make good use space. Large panes of glass to each side will ensure the saloon feels airy. The Mangusta GranSport 48 further has a beach club, flying-bridge dining area (for 10), and hot tub at the bow to entice everyone. Speaking of that hot tub, its bottom is glass, serving as a skylight for the master head below. Light can spill out into the sleeping space, thanks to a glass door between the head and stateroom. Buyers can arrange the interior how they wish, though Overmarine and designer Alberto Mancini are suggesting a blend of dark and pale materials plus glossy and matte textures to play with light even more.
As for the Oceano 55, pictured below, she builds on the design base of the first long-range cruiser from Overmarine, the Oceano 42. LOA is 182 feet (55.5 meters), with construction in steel and aluminum. Due to her emphasis on enjoying the ride as much as the destination, top end is set for 17.5 knots and cruise speed should be 12 knots. The twin MTU engines should also allow her to cover more than 5,000 miles at that cruise speed.
Even though she’s more of a traditional megayacht, the Oceano 55 still employs plenty of glass (some floor to ceiling) and drop-down partitions among her three decks to bring the outside in. Imagine the feel while standing in the main-deck owners’ suite, measuring 1,076 square feet (100 square meters). Picture yourself, too, in the beach club (shown at top), with three platforms over the water (one fully aft, as usual, and one to each side).
The Oceano 55 has some good alfresco areas, too. A variety of lounges, a dining area, and more can be set up on the sundeck. It measures 1,722 square feet (160 square meters). Sure to attract attention: the 16’x16’(5×5-meter) foredeck pool, featuring a glass forward wall for an infinity effect.
Once again, buyers are invited to incorporate their tastes throughout the arrangements for 12 in the owners’ party and 11 crew. If you’re open to suggestions, Mancini has designs mixing warm and cool tones in a contemporary setting.
