ISA Amacord 86 Yacht Plays Up Different Personalities on Different Decks

The 282-foot (86-meter) ISA Amacord 86 yacht is the second design in the ISA Large Yacht Collection. The overriding principle behind the collection, encompassing designs from 262 to 295 feet (80 to 90 meters), is twofold. Firstly, it builds upon the yard’s experience with significant-sized contracts to 329 feet (100 meters) and the experience of its sister brand, Columbus Yachts, namely the 262-foot (80-meter) Dragon, delivered in 2019. ISA Yachts distilled those experiences into set technical platforms for each design. Secondly, each design taps into particular preferences, recognizing that owners still want their own personalities throughout the decks and not be limited to rigid layouts.

In approaching the Amacord 86, ISA Yachts and Nuvolari-Lenard, its design partner, didn’t just create a big sister to the Amarcord 82 yacht. Instead, they weighed how families move throughout the decks from morning to evening, and from activity to activity. They also considered that owners and their families are spending much more time onboard, essentially treating their yachts as second homes.

That helps explain why, for instance, the lower deck is the most relaxing one for daily enjoyment. Of course, a big swim platform is part of the experience, as are fold-down platforms and an opening beach club. While some designers and builders seem to believe a lift-up beach-club hatch is an aesthetic inconvenience, ISA Yachts and Nuvolari-Lenard tout the welcome shade it creates on the swim platform. Adding to the relaxed ambience, a wellness area is directly accessible just forward of the beach area, with a massage room and a gym looking out to the sea. Rather than forcing access to the beach club and wellness area separately, guests can pass through a glass-lined corridor from further inside the superyacht.

Recognizing that alfresco areas are often additionally social hubs, the Amacord 86 yacht offers an idea space aft on the main deck. Barstools perch facing the glass-bottomed pool, with big sunlounges and seating areas sitting to each side of the pool, too. Yet another conversation area can come together forward, under the shade of the upper deck. Conveniently, it’s an extension of the saloon when the doors between the two stay open. Along these same lines, ISA Yachts recommends keeping the same aesthetics to keep them looking and feeling more united.

With six guest staterooms, most on the main deck, the owners naturally have a haven for themselves. On the upper deck, upwards of 1,076 square feet (100 square meters) for the suite set the deck’s mood. It’s much more private, a place to have quiet time along before the day begins or as it ends. Parents or grandparents can still welcome family up here, since a pool and flanking lounges are forward. So, too, is a wide-open terrace for touch-and-go helipad arrivals and departures, big parties, or whatever the owners can imagine.

As tempting as wrapping up the day on the sundeck, may be for watching the sunsets, the bridge deck is better suited. Here, the Amacord 86 offers lounge seating surrounding a firepit, a stone’s throw from an alfresco dining area. It’s easy to imagine gathering for sunset drinks, enjoying dinner, and carrying the conversation over to the firepit as stars come out.

With a captain and crew of 21, the Amacord 86 is engineered to be a floating home around the world. Best range should be at 12 knots, 6,200 nautical miles. That’s more than enough for transatlantic and transpacific voyages.
