In a few weeks, the third Amer megayacht owned by one particular client gets christened. Simultaneously, that megayacht becomes the biggest project to date from the builder. She’s the Amer 110, measuring 110 feet LOA.
The first word about the new model came when the contract was signed in late 2015. The owner previously enjoyed cruising aboard an Amer 92 and an Amer Cento (100-footer). Related, the owner signed the Amer 110 within five years of delivery of his first yacht from the yard.
While the construction photos, released this week, don’t show the styling, expect the yacht to look similar to her smaller sisters. This means she’s a flying-bridge design with sleek and sporty lines. She features a hardtop, too.
Amer Yachts says the owner of this first Amer 110 wanted the interior design to be the same as that of his previous yachts. Therefore, the master stateroom should can be on the main deck, with all guest staterooms below decks. (On a side note, the Amer Cento offers a choice of three or four staterooms below decks, with the former including a full-beam VIP.)
Something else appearing on the Amer 110 that appeared on one of the owner’s previous yachts is Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. In fact, the Amer 110 has quadruple IPS units. It’s significant not just for Amer Yachts, but also for Volvo Penta. No other megayacht in this size range has this type of arrangement. Amer Yachts has not specified what the speeds should be. However, based on the performances of the Amer Cento with quadruple IPS units, we estimate cruising speed will be in the mid-20-knot range.
Following delivery, the Amer 110 will appear at some of the fall boat shows. The premiere event is the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The Genoa International Boat Show in October is the next big event.
