In a few weeks, the owner of the first Numarine 32XP will embark on his maiden voyage. The 106’6” (32.5-meter) megayacht is not just the first of her series, she’s the first displacement cruiser from the Istanbul-based shipyard.
Numarine has staked its reputation on building semi-custom sport yachts. Besides bearing sleek lines, the yachts hit speeds up to 30 knots. The 32XP breaks with that practice. Numarine terms her an explorer due to prioritizing long range. She’ll reportedly see 3,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. Her twin 715-hp Caterpillars should further permit a 12-knot cruising speed and 14-knot top speed under half load. Naval architecture for the 32XP, fitted with a steel displacement hull, comes from the yard as well as Umberto Tagliavini. That displacement hull, though, won’t preclude poking into shallows. The 32XP’s fully loaded draft is 6’9” (2.1 meters).
Numarine believed it could grow current customers, as well as new ones, into the explorer line. It was right: The owner of the first 32XP is a repeat buyer. He was already familiar with how Numarine and its regular designer, Can Yalman, allow clients to tailor interior and exterior spaces to their liking. He took full advantage, doing some things you wouldn’t expect of a nearly 107-footer.
To wit, he requested two master suites, one sitting on the upper deck. It comprises nearly 431 square feet (40 square meters), plus has sliding doors to the alfresco area. Given the megayacht’s size, a RIB and two PWCs stow here, along with a davit. Of course, the deck can become a private respite when the toys are in the water. As for the second master, it’s forward on the main deck. It’s no less a true master, either, occupying 323 square feet (30 square meters). It also spans the full 26’2” (8-meter) beam.
Another novel layout feature of this first Numarine 32XP is the gym on the main deck. It’s tucked to starboard, opposite the galley and aft of the second master suite. (On a related note, speaking of the galley, the crew still gets a cooking area in the crew mess below decks.)
Some buyers of the 32XP might elect for three staterooms below decks, with one being a full-beam VIP. In contrast, this owner plans to cruise with more family and friends. That’s why two VIPs and two doubles are down below. They, along with the captain and four-person crew, should appreciate the yacht reportedly exceeding RINA’s Comfort Class notation. In brief, the classification has strict standards for sound and vibration attenuation.
Look for this first series delivery in the Med later in the summer.
