If you live for adventure, craving long-range travel experiences, especially to remote regions, this is the yacht for you. The CRN 86-meter explorer is just a proposal on paper—and video—for now. But she can come to completion on contract.
The idea of an explorer yacht isn’t entirely new for CRN. In fact, she harkens back to a famous delivery, the CRN F-100. F-100 belonged to Gianni Agnelli of Fiat, who wanted to go cruising regardless of what Mother Nature held in store. Delivered in 1983, the megayacht was unlike the pleasureboats of the era for that reason. In turning to Eidsgaard Design for this project, CRN wanted to “go back to those values,” according to Stefano De Vivo, CRN’s chief commercial officer.
At 282 feet, the CRN 86-meter explorer obviously has a lot more room than F-100 did. She’s also meant to carry far more watertoys—though, it is worth noting that F-100 was exceptional in being able to carry a helicopter! Before taking anything else into consideration, Eidsgaard Design needed to address ways to carry a large number of toys, including substantial ones. In fact, CRN envisioned the owner wanting some hefty powerboats for poking into scenic, secluded, shallow bays. Therefore, the yacht has a crane forward capable of lifting craft to 50 tons. It’s as functional as it is practical, particularly for the crew.
The interior configuration is practical and functional for both crew and guests, too. Harrison Eidsgaard of Eidsgaard Design uses abundant glass to keep saloons and staterooms “in direct contact with the sea.” He, and CRN, wanted all aboard to appreciate the natural environment no matter whether they’re inside or outside.
As for the outside areas, though, perhaps none is as impressive as the owner’s deck. It has walkaround decks connecting a forward terrace and an aft area including a hot tub.
