The radically different 90R turned a lot of heads for Ocean Alexander. The yacht also attracted a lot of visitors at her boat-show debut in Fort Lauderdale last year. Anticipate similarly strong interest at this year’s Fort Lauderdale show, but with a different model. Here are inside looks at the Ocean Alexander 84R.
As you may remember, “R” stands for “Revolution,” a new semi-custom series. The line is indeed a revolution. The yard’s in-house team and longtime stylist Evan Marshall wanted to transform the looks long associated with the brand, as well as the experience onboard. As mentioned above, the Ocean Alexander 90R was quite successful in doing so. Her vertical bow and floor-to-ceiling windows were just the start. Light-filled decks and well-planned staterooms underlined a strong sense of volume.
The builder teased the Ocean Alexander 84R with an Instagram video earlier this year. It’s sharing more details now. Overall, she combines the open floorplan of another series, the 70e, with the more contemporary character of the 90R, according to Marshall. Furthermore, “We made a conscious decision to cater to buyers who are looking for a yacht that offers a relaxed, family-oriented layout.” For instance, the main deck is entirely for spending time together. A TV lounge sits fully forward, with an open-plan dining area, galley, and saloon aft. This, Marshall continues, heightens the sense of space, “allowing areas to be distinct yet merging together.”
The first Ocean Alexander 84R will feature a glass-wrapped skylounge (top), though as usual, an open bridge is also an option. Here, as well as below, you can select stone soles and countertops, satin and/or high-gloss woods, as well as glossy lacquered materials. Whether you go with the skylounge or open bridge, you can dine alfresco fully aft, with lunches served straight from the grill. And, you still have room for a hot tub and sunpads.
Below decks, meanwhile, the vertical bow means more elbowroom. Wake up to beautiful views at anchor (above). Your guests can do the same, with Very Important People enjoying an especially well-outfitted suite. Few megayachts in this size range have a VIP with a walk-around queen bed, along with a small sitting area.
